Biography

Bethany McCullough has over 25 years of intensive dance training, performance and choreography experience.  She began her training with Baton Rouge Ballet Theater performing in ballets such as The Nutcracker and Handel’s Messiah.   She spent one year training intensively at the Alvin Ailey School in New York City, also completing intensive programs at the Martha Graham School, Jose Limon Institute, Paul Taylor School, Joffrey Ballet and Vienna Summer Festival.  She trained under Lester Horton master teacher Milton Myers, Ailey teacher Denise Jefferson, Graham master teacher Stuart Hodes and Limon master teacher Risa Steinberg.  In 2002, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance from Florida State University where she performed with Dance Repertory Theater.  She performed with DRT at the American College Dance Festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.  She performed for two seasons with Cangelosi Dance Project.  During her time with CDP she performed as a soloist at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland and the Jazz World Dance Congress in Costa Rica.  She has performed with Xaris Dance Company (Germany), Tsunami Dance (New Orleans), the Alabama Dance Summit and on tour with Of Moving Colors at Dance New Amsterdam (NYC).  She has performed, taught, and choreographed for Of Moving Colors Productions since 1998.  Her choreographic debut was with OMC and the Baton Rouge Symphony in 2005 and she has since choreographed numerous works for the company.  Her choreography has been featured at Regional Dance America Southwest with Baton Rouge Ballet Theater where she received the Choreography Tier Award in 2010.  She is certified in Pilates and the Gyrotonic method (Level 1) with additional training in yoga, Gyrokinesis, Bartinieff fundamentals, Vinyasa and power yoga, and Zena Rommett floor barre technique.  This is her third year teaching at LSU.  Her passion is to teach, mentor, choreograph and encourage the next generation of dancers, choreographers and artists to achieve their full potential.
